One thing is people with Low Vision often are able to get or be introduced to Low vision aids like magnifiers, keyboards, computer software, raised dots (bump dots) that help you use appliances in the house on things you use a lot it gives it a different feel so that you can know what button or dial you are pushing, also mobility aids which you are taught to use with an O and M instructor (orientation and mobility instructor) these people help you learn how to navigate your world and use a cane or other mobility devices. I use a cane. There are many different types of canes so if anyone is interested in learning more about them I did a bunch a research to find ones that i like. It can be frightening but I think for me the hard part is being in the grey area I am too blind to function properly and not blind enough for government aid. HOwever with the new tests that I should be receiving to determine my visual field that may change.
